Summary: This paper introduces a distributed control algorithm for energy-optimal operation of two electric Heavy-Duty Vehicles driving in hilly terrain, addressing the scalability limitations of centralized schemes. Using the Alternating Direction Method of Multiplier, the proposed controller ensures energy-optimality while accommodating an increasing number of vehicles in a platoon. Simulation results demonstrate that the distributed controller outperforms centralized control in scalability, maintaining overall energy efficiency in larger platoons, making it a viable solution for cooperative energy management in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs).
